CSH ORCHESTRA

My goal is that your student finds Orchestra to be a challenging and worthwhile learning experience.  It is my belief that students learn more and develop better self-discipline, responsibility, and knowledge, as well as take more pride in participating in superior orchestras than poor ones.  Excellence takes a commitment.  We should not allow ourselves to strive for anything less.

My goal is also for students to improve and grow as musicians and that they enjoy performing and become more knowledgeable and competent players.  Throughout the year students will be challenged in many ways.  Much of the information is covered in the Student Handbook.

ORCHESTRA PROGRAM GOALS

Students will:

Learn correct string technique and tone production.

1. Learn to sight read and perform various rhythmic patterns.
2. Learn to work as a member of a group.
3. Be exposed to a variety of musical styles, including music from diverse cultures and music from different historical periods.
4. Establish criteria for recognizing quality sound and pitch and quality music.
