Orchestra Letter Requirements

2009 – 10 School Year

To receive a letter in Orchestra, the student must complete the following:

1. Demonstrate a positive attitude towards the orchestra program.
2. Attend all required rehearsals and performances.  (missed performances must be excused in advanced unless there are special circumstances)
3. Accumulate 400 points to receive the first letter award of the letter and pin.
4. Points follow the student from grade to grade.  This point system will begin with the 2009-10 school year.
5. Students must obtain an authorization signature verifying participation in each event.  (Whoever is in charge of the event – church music director, private teacher, choir director, etc.)
6. Points accumulated for first semester must be turned in at the end of the first semester.  Second semester points should be turned in prior to the final awards concert so that awards can be properly prepared.
7. For each additional 400 points earned over and above the first 400 points, the student will receive a bar, which signifies an additional letter.
8. “Double Bars” are awarded to those students who earn 800 points or more in one school year.  “Triple Bars” are awarded for 1200 or more points in one year and “Quadruple Bars” are awarded for earning 1600 points or more in one school year.
